Norma Hanselman, 84 of New Sharon passed away Sunday evening, December 20, 2020 at the Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa. Graveside services will begin at 11:00 am Monday, December 28, 2020 at the Friends Cemetery in New Sharon. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Sunday, December 27, 2020 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in New Sharon. According to the rules put in place by the Iowa Department of Public Health, proper social distancing and appropriate personal protective equipment will be required for attending this public event. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lacey United Methodist Church. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.

Norma Jean Hanselman, the daughter of Frank and Mae (Pitman) Carpenter, was born on August 1, 1936 in Jamaica, Iowa. She attended Berkeley Country School before graduating from Rippy High School in 1954. On August 15, 1954, Norma was united in marriage to Jerrold Hanselman at the Perry United Methodist Church. To this union four children were born, Mark, David, Fenton and Lea Ann. After they were married, Norma was a stay-at-home mom and took care of the family until their youngest daughter Lea Ann began school. Norma then worked a short time a Pella Products and Montgomery Wards. In 1974, Norma began working at Pella Corp retiring in 1998 after 24 years.

Norma enjoyed crafts, ceramics, crocheting and attending craft shows. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family. She attended all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren's activities and had the privilege to make each of her great grandchildren a quilt. Norma was a Cub Scout Leader for several years, she belonged to the Prairie Knolls Country Club, she attended the Lacey United Methodist Church and sold Avon and Tupperware for several years.

Her memory will be cherished by her children, Mark (Pat) Hanselman of New Sharon; David (Carol) Hanselman of University Park, Fenton Hanselman of New Sharon and Lea Ann (Terry) DeCook of New Sharon; her grandchildren, Travis (Olivia) Hanselman, Holly (Waylon Williams) Hanselman, Kyle Hanselman, Fritz Hanselman, Ashlar Hanselman, Miranda (Joshua) Johnson, Anna (Pete) Panada, Alexis (Jake) Beck, Tiffany (John) Hammerly and Tasha (Hal) Gibson; her great grandchildren, Hagan, Hugo, GiGi, Geona, Kylie, Drake, Korbin, Agustis, Paisley, Cheyenne, Cherise, Joey, Wiley, Brooke, Henrick and Kenzie; great-great grandchildren; Weslynn and Silas Panada; her brother, Francis (Sandy) Carpenter; her sister, Patricia (Gail) Monthei and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerrold and a niece, Kim Owens.
