Peggy Rinderknecht, 75, of What Cheer, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at home after a battle with cancer.   Graveside services for friends and family will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the Highland Cemetery, What Cheer, Iowa.  A Celebration of Life and Potluck (bring a dish) gathering will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Thomas Hall in What Cheer.

Peggy Diane Rinderknecht was born on July 6, 1948 at What Cheer, Iowa the daughter of Dale and Marie Ross Sauer.  She was a 1966 graduate of Sigourney High School. She went on to attend Paris Academy Beauty School at Cedar Rapids.  On August 15, 1967, Peggy was united in marriage to Gary Rinderknecht at the Delta Methodist Church and to this union came two children, Christine and Greg.   Peggy and Gary. just celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on August 15, 2023.  Peg owned and operated Peg's Beauty Shop in What Cheer for several years. She also had a passion for music and enjoyed her role as a Drummer for the Diamond Trail Band. She was like a mother grizzly bear watching over her grandchildren. Peggy found comfort in horseback riding, gardening, garage sales, sewing, crafting and simply doing most anything with her husband Gary.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Marie and Dale Sauer and sister Marge Maule.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Gary Rinderknecht; her two children, Christine Rinderknecht and Greg Rinderknecht; three brothers; Les (Carol) Sauer, Dave (Sharen) Sauer and Larry (Barb) Sauer; granddaughter, Kayla Ashby. Peggy also leaves behind a legacy of four great grandchildren as well as many other relatives and friends.
