Phillip Watt, 99, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Unity Point Grinnell Regional Medical Center, Grinnell, Iowa. Graveside memorial services with Military Rites will begin at 10:30 am Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at the Pleasant Township Cemetery in Ewart. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Phillip Lawson Watt was born on April 18, 1922, to Wayne and Blanche Coyier Watt at Boscebel, Wisconsin.  Phil grew up in the Boscebel area and moved with his parents and family to Colfax and attended school.  His family then moved to Grinnell where they farmed.  He enlisted with the U.S. Army in 1940.  He served in the artillery at Pearl Harbor to defend and also spent time in the Philippines, Marshall Island and Okinawa.  After his honorable discharge, he came back to Grinnell and farmed.  He married Zelda Molloy on December 31, 1950 and they became the parents of three children; Terry, Delight and Kimberly.  Phil and Zelda moved to Montezuma and Phil   began driving truck.  He retired at the age of 70.  They enjoyed going to the Big Horn Mountains in Wyoming in September.  He was also a big Cubs fan.  Phil was a member of the Blakely-Stevens Post #169 in Montezuma.

Phil is survived by his children, Terry Watt of Montezuma, Delight (David) Kelly of York, PA, and Kimberly Watt of TN; his grandchildren, Jesse Watt and Lisa (Robert) Kelly; his great grandchildren, Mae and Zella, as well as many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Zelda; his siblings, Parker, Clair, Patricia, Vivian and Doris.
