Ramona Webb Saunders, 92, of New Sharon passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at the Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time and burial of her cremains will be held in the Steamboat Rock Cemetery in Steamboat Rock, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be made to "Friends of the Library" to be dedicated to the Iowa Library for the Blind. Ramona suffered from macular degeneration for many years, so the books she read were on tape provided by the library and were of great comfort to her. Ramona Webb Saunders, the daughter of Floyd and Helen (Pasch) Webb, was born on October 12, 1928 in New London, Wisconsin. She graduated from New London High School in New London, Wisconsin in 1946 then went on to receive her Bachelor Degree of Science from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. On June 14, 1952, Ramona was united in marriage to Pastor David Lowell Saunders. To this union two children were born, John and Amy. Ramona and David also adopted five children, Deborah, Thomas, William, Linda and Lila and fostered six more. Ramona stayed very busy raising 13 children, being a pastor's wife, and working as a social worker for the State of Iowa in Hardin County for 23 years. She also volunteered at the Iowa Food Bank for many years and served on the Board of Directors for the Sheltered Workshop in Marshall County. Ramona loved reading, horseback riding, swimming, listening to classical music, and was a huge Green Bay Packers fan. Ramona played the violin, french horn and the piano. She was very active in church life with Circle, Sunday School classes throughout her time as a pastor's wife and later as an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Oskaloosa for 22 years. Ramona also traveled to many churches with her daughter who serves the pulpit supply for the Des Moines Presbytery including the last three years attending the Gibson Presbyterian Church where she made many new friends in her late life.

Her legacy will be remembered by her children, John Saunders, Amy (Cary) McGriff, Deborah Saunders, Thomas Saunders, Linda Saunders and Lila Saunders; four grandchildren, Warren David Truesdale, Sarah Joanne McGriff, Katie Coe McGriff, and Megan Nicole McGriff; one great granddaughter, Mittie Lynn Truesdale, and one sister, June (Charles) Silliman, along with many other relatives and friends.

Ramona was preceded in death by her parents; a son, William Saunders, and a granddaughter, Mittie Elizabeth Truesdale.
