Ray Fogle, 73, of What Cheer, died Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer. Burial will be in the Sixteen Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, December 4, 2020 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family or to the What Cheer Fire & Rescue.

Ray Edward Fogle, Sr. was born March 5, 1947 in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Roy and Eileen Danner Fogle. He attended What Cheer High School before starting his working career at What Cheer Clay Products. Over the years he also worked for the City of What Cheer as a Policeman, Fireman, and city maintenance worker, Big Smith Overall Factory, Kaiser Rock Quarry and Pella Products. Ray married Donna Bird on January 26, 1968 and to this union came five children: Ray, Jr. (Eddie), Darren, Randy, Michelle (Shelly), and Terry. He enjoyed camping and fishing, attending figure 8 races, collecting clocks and visiting with most anyone. Ray will be remembered as a strong willed, hard working person who was never too busy to teach young people.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant twin brother; an infant sister; a daughter, Michelle Fogle; a son, Ray Fogle, Jr.; a grandson, Mathew Fogle; and a sister, Ruby Draughn.

Ray is survived by his wife, Donna Fogle; three sons, Darren (Monica) Fogle, Randy (Candice) Fogle, and Terry (Wendy) Fogle; three brothers, Russell Fogle, Kenneth (Lois) Fogle, and Roger (Betty) Fogle; five sisters, Joan Shafer, Shirley Woods, Bonnie Hofer, Grace Shannon, and Karen Walker. His legacy will also be cherished by twenty grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren.
