Rene Carruthers, 51 of Grinnell passed away Sunday morning, January 8, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am, Friday, January 13, at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma.  Burial will be held in the Golden Rod Cemetery in Deep River.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 12, beginning at noon with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma.  As a request from the family, please no flowers and memorials may be made in the family's name to help with final expenses. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Rene Rachelle Carruthers was born on August 15, 1971, to Kenneth and Patricia White Cameron at Marengo, Iowa.  She attended school and graduated from Benton Community High School in 1990.  Rene was a waitress awhile before attending Indian Hills receiving her CNA certificate and later her CMA certificate. Rene was united in marriage to Travis Carruthers on April 2, 1995 and they became the parents of five children.  She loved helping others and began working at the Manor House in Sigourney for over ten years before going to work at the Sigourney Care Center.  Rene's favorite job began when she did home daycare for her grandchildren and later added other kids until her health failed.  She loved anything to do with her family, hosting many family dinners and get togethers.  Rene liked to craft, make wreaths with pictures of her daycare kids, collect minions, and make her special pizza.  She spent quality time with her mother and best friend.  In her spare time, she watched crime TV shows, did crossword puzzles and word finds.

Rene is survived by her husband, Travis, of Grinnell; her children, April Carruthers of Grinnell, Travis Carruthers of Oskaloosa, Robert (Stormy) Carruthers of Sigourney, Amber Carruthers of Grinnell and David Carruthers of Grinnell; her four grandchildren, Kason Carruthers, Reese Carruthers, Nash Carruthers and Harrison Fitzwater; her mother, Pat Cameron of What Cheer;  her siblings, Lyle Cameron of Watkins, Larry (Stacey) Cameron of Deep River, Brenda (Matt) Popejoy of Blairstown, Linda Cameron of Marion and Lynn (Robin) Cameron of Marengo.

She is preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Cameron and her niece, Daisy Cameron.
