Richard Thompson, 71, of Rose Hill, died Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney. A graveside service will be held at the Jackson Cemetery at Rose Hill on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 beginning at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Richard Raymond Thompson, Sr., was born on April 20, 1951 at Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Harley and Bernice Rogers Thompson.  He attended school in Rose Hill.  Richard was married in 1970 and Richard, Jr. was born.  Richard worked for Shraggo's in Oskaloosa for approximately ten years and worked as an excellent car mechanic   after that.  He also did odd jobs and lawn service.    He was an easy-going guy, was very laid back and had a big heart.  He would help anyone however much he could.   Family was important to him and he always asked about his grandkids and how they were doing.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Randy Thompson, Nipper Thompson, and Albert Thompson; a sister, Sheila Thompson in infancy; brothers-in law, Calvin Lundy and Terry Burger; and a great grandnephew, Colten Lundy.

Richard is survived by a son, Richard (Kim) Thompson, Jr.; a sister, Shari Burger; six grandchildren: Dustin, Hannah, Clay, Bryce, Archer and Ella Thompson; as well as several nieces and nephews.
