Rob Poe, 54 of New Sharon passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023. Graveside services will begin at 1:00 pm Saturday, July 1, 2023 at the Union Mills Cemetery at Union Mills. Visitation will begin after 12:00 pm Friday, June 30, 2023 at the Union Mills Christian Church Fellowship Hall with the family present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Southern iowa Fair. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Duane Poe, the son of Roy and Dolores (Goemaat) Poe, was born on February 27, 1969 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He graduated from North Mahaska High School in 1987 and then attended Indian Hills Community College receiving his degree in Ag Mechanic. On February 27, 1995, Rob was united in marriage to Amy Smith in Montezuma. To this union four children were born, Cole, Mylee, Jake and Rylee. Rob farmed and worked at Vermeer Manufacturing for over 20 years before staying home to help raise his daughter, Rylee, before she began school. Rob contiuned to farm and raise cattle and went back to school to get his CDL so he could drive truck. Rob drove truck for over nine years, driving for Van Utrecht Farms Trucking and Wilson Trucking out of Moravia. He also helped a few other truckers in the area when they needed help. Rob had a passion for farming, raising cattle and trucking. He also loved chocolate, iced tea, Pepsi, vacationing and fishing in Arkansas, his family dog Otis (he called him "Ol Son" and above all, Rob was excited about becoming a grandpa. He also helped his kids get their FFA and 4-H cattle ready for the fair. He was a member of the Lacey United Methodist Church and he attended Central Reformed Church in Oskaloosa as a kid.

His legacy will be honored by his wife, Amy Poe of New Sharon; his children, Cole (Lacey) Poe of Oskaloosa, Jake Poe of New Sharon and Rylee Poe of New Sharon; his granddaughter, Rhenlee Marie Poe; his father, Roy Poe of Oskaloosa; his brothers, Rick (Michele) Poe of Des Moines and Randy (Brenda) Poe of Oskaloosa; his mother-in-law, Judy Smith of New Sharon; his sister-in-law, Lory (Marty) Hay of Sully and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Rob was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores Poe, his daughter, Mylee Poe; his father-in-law, Rod Smith and special friend, Earl DeBoef (who taught him how to farm).
