Robert Donald Ver Steegh, 50 of Montezuma sadly took his own life at his home Tuesday, September 26, 2023. He had lost his father to cancer on July 27, 2023 and was devastated by his loss. Graveside services will begin at 10:30 am Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at the Friends Cemetery in New Sharon with Pastor Josh Martin officiating. No visitation is planned. His family has asked that memorial contributions may be made to Robert's son, Garrett Ver Steegh, and may be sent to the Holland-Coble Funeral Home; In Care of Robert Ver Steegh; P.O. Box 85; New Sharon, Iowa 50207. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.

Robert was born on August 26, 1973 at Logan County Hospital in Sterling, Colorado and was the son of Ronal Leon and Patricia (Minniear) Ver Steegh. He attended school and grew up mostly in the New Sharon area. Robert was a race enthusiast and participated in Figure 8 racing form many years under car number 548.

Robert is survived by his son, Garrett Ver Steegh of What Cheer; his mother, Patricia Brown; his sister, Rhonda Abdulla; his brother, Joe Ver Steegh; his half siblings, Leon McCrory, Dawn Ver Steegh and Jennifer Yeadon; his step sister, Sharon Kenney; his step mother, Karen Ver Steegh and many other extended family and friends.
