Rodney Ritchie, 59 of Montezuma passed away Monday, January 27, 2025 at his home in Montezuma. Graveside memorial services with military rites will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 1, 2025 at the Sixteen Cemetery near Thornburg. No Visitation is planned. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Rodney Eugene Ritchie, the son of Dennis Ritchie and Connie Piersel Ritchie Stephen, was born on January 31, 1965 in Iowa City, Iowa. He graduated from Montezuma High School.  Following high school, Rod joined the Marines serving four years. Following his honorable discharge in 1987, Rodney worked construction for several different companies in North Carolina before returning to Iowa where he worked for Montezuma Manufacturing and Kinze Manufacturing. He enjoyed hanging out with friends, listening to music and having a cold one as he would say.

He is survived by his children, Racheal Ritchie of Idaho, Montana Ritchie of South Carolina and Austin (Meaghan) Ritchie of North Carolina; two granddaughters, Sophia Ritchie and Elizabeth Ritchie; his mother, Connie Stephen of Montezuma; his sisters, Roxanne (Mike) Hicks of Montezuma, Rhonda Ritchie of Discovery Bay, CA and Kelly (Brian) VanWyk of Monroe; his brother, Byron (Margaux)Stephen of Madison, New Jersey along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Rodney was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Ritchie; a nephew, Zain VanWyk and his step father, Terry Stephen.
