Roger Gregson, 82 of Montezuma passed away Sunday afternoon, May 17, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family on hospice care. A Celebration of Life will begin at 11:00 am Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial with military rites will be held in the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Morrison-Schrader American Legion Post #296 in Deep River. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Roger Lee Gregson, the son of Enos and Evelyn (Rauch) Gregson, was born on August 7, 1943 in Deep River, Iowa. He attended Deep River Millersburg School. On September 22, 1967, Roger was united in marriage to Diana Rose at the home of Minister Harold Fay in Victor, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Roger Jr. and Peggy. Roger enlisted with the United States Army in November of 1967, where he was stationed in Fort McClellan, Alabama before being sent to fight in the Vietnam War as a sharpshooter where he received a Purple Heart.  Following his honorable discharge in 1969, Roger returned home to Deep River to farm. He also worked at Farm Hand and then Golden Sun Feed in Grinnell before being an over the road trucker for many years. During his retirement, Roger stayed busy helping local farmers with fieldwork and hauling grain which he loved to do. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Roger was a longtime member of the Morrison-Schrader American Legion Post #296 in Deep River.

Roger's legacy will be honored by his wife of nearly 59 years, Diana Gregson of Montezuma; his children, Roger (Tera) Gregson Jr. of Montezuma and Peggy Gregson of Montezuma; his grandchildren, Austin Gregson, Bryant Gregson and Dominique Ward; his step grandchildren, Dylan Gray, Devin Gray and Brianna Lewis; a step great granddaughter, Adrian Lewis; a brother, Robert (Joyce) Gregson; two sisters, Patricia (Marvin Evans) Snook and Janet (David) Graves; brother-in-law, Harley (Nancy) Rose along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Sheldon Gregson; sisters-in-law, Mary Rose, Martha Hicks, Joyce Rose and Donna Gregson; brothers-in-law, Gary Hicks and Keith Snook; a nephew, Billy Hicks and a niece, Denise Hamer.
