Ron Hedrick, 83 of Goodyear, AZ and formerly of Montezuma, IA passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at home under the care of Home Health Hospice. A Celebration of Life/graveside will begin at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 31, 2025 at the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma. A Fellowship and Visitation with Ron's family will be held at the Montezuma Country Club from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm Saturday May 31, 2025. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bev Hedrick and will be divided between the Montezuma Fire Department, Blakely Stevens American Legion Post #169 and the Montezuma Country Club. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Ronald Howard Hedrick, the son of Howard Eldon and Alice Alene (VanCleave) Hedrick was born of January 16, 1942 in Montezuma, Iowa. He graduated from Montezuma High School with the class of 1960. Ron enlisted in the United States Air Force on August 17, 1961. He did his basic training in San Antonio, TX before transferring to Wichita Falls, TX for accounting training. Ron was then stationed in Diabaker, Turkey where he played softball in Greece before being transferred back to the Bolen Air Force Base in Washington D.C. where he was honorably discharged on August 18, 1965. One of Ron's most proud memories was standing as part of the Honor Guard for the parade route for JFK's funeral. On February 25, 1967, Ron was united in marriage to Beverly Septer at the Presbyterian Church in Ewart. To this union four children were born, Chris, Crisha, Chad and Cori.

Ron worked for Robertson DX, Hedrick & Hedrick Livestock and Trucking, Sutherland Printing before beginning his 33-year career with the United States Post Office. Following retirement from the Post Office, Ron worked several years at Brownell's Inc. Ron and Bev started wintering in Arizona in 2010 before moving there full time in 2021. He loved playing golf, poker and card games. He also enjoyed camping; especially at the Iowa State Fair and Diamond Lake and traveling to several places particularly to Mazatlan, Mexico. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed watching the Washington Redskins, Arizona Cardinals and the Arizona Diamondbacks. He also enjoyed playing slow pitch softball for SBR (Slow Base Runners), watching Jeopardy, counting steps on his Fitbit, watching his kids and grandkids sporting events, cooking, dancing to country music and visiting; especially with his neighbor, Tom. Ron was one of the good guys that loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He never knew a stranger and loved his community of Montezuma. He was a proud member of the Blakely Stevens American Legion Post #169 for over 50 years, a member of the Montezuma Fire Department for more than 40 years; the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years, the Order of the Eastern Star for 16 years, the Shriners, Key Stone Cops and served on the Montezuma City Council from 1992 to 2012.

His legacy will be cherished by his wife, Beverly of Goodyear, AZ; three children, Chris (Julie) Hedrick of Pearl River, LA, Chad (Lisa) Hedrick of Ashland, NE and Cori (Dave) Ahlstrand of Springfield, MO; eight grandchildren, Bobby (Savannah) Dye, Tyler (Brittney) Hedrick, Sidney (Nick) Livingston, Jacob Hedrick, Ashley Hedrick, Avery Ahlstrand, Addison Ahlstrand and Beckett Ahlstrand; seven great grandchildren, Doryon, Odin, Raiden and Carolina Dye, Avacyn and Lillyana Hedrick and Noah Livingston; two brothers, Bill (Mary) Hedrick of Montezuma and Richard (Paul Wrosch) Hedrick of Palm Springs, CA; sister-in-law, Karen Hedrick of Greenlawn, NY; brother-in-law, Bob (Twyla) Septer of New Sharon; sister-in-law, Debbie Johnson of Springfield, IL and brother-in-law, Bill (Connie) Septer of Litchfield Park, AZ  along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Slim and Alene Hedrick; an infant daughter, Crisha Lynn; in-laws, Gerrit (Shorty) and Joann Septer; brother, Jim Hedrick; brother-in-law, Mike Johnson and nephews, James Hedrick and Wes Septer.
