Rozann Burggraaf, 81 of New Sharon went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at the Oskaloosa Care Center surrounded by her family. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at the OskyFirst Assembly of God Church in Oskaloosa. Burial will be held in the Union Mills Cemetery at Union Mills. Visitation will begin after 12:00 pm Monday, October 5, 2026 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in New Sharon with the family present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the OskyFirst Assembly of God Missions Dept. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.

Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend

I was born in a home filled with love and ‘where there was always room for one more’, to Robert M. and Bonita L. McCaulley Burggraaf. I was the second born of five children and have truly lived a full satisfying life and if you are reading this, I have made my flight (departure) (way) to Heaven where the roses never fade. My full given name came from three of my grandmothers: Great Grandma ‘Rose Patton, Great Grandma ‘Ann Sorenson, and Grandpa Ralph McCaulley called his wife his ‘Chere’, thus allowing me to live with such a lovely name, Rozann Chere’ Burggraaf. Many times, I would give one single long stem rose instead of a bouquet of roses which became my personal insignia. Over these many years, I have signed cards, ‘Just me, RCB’, and we liked it so much, Dad created and had that along with a long stem rose engraved on my headstone that is ready at Union Mills Cemetery.

I truly have enjoyed sharing my life. I was an in-home care provider, staying with others, enabling them to stay in their home as long as we could manage together. I have been known as ‘Aunt Zann’ to many families, children and youth, through the church and community and have provided overnight babysitting, both for those two-legged youngsters and for some of their four-legged fury friends. So you can understand now – my fulfilled lifestyle.

Maybe you have heard me say—

“I do not live alone – there are six of us in the house! Me, myself and I, God the Father, Son and Spirit, and I am the only one who talks out loud! 😊”

“You choose the kind of day you will have – rain or shine (which I refer to as liquid sunshine).”

“To have a great week – there is Marvelous Monday, Terrific Tuesday, Wonderful Wednesday, Thankful Thursday, Fabulous Friday, Super Saturday and Sacred Sunday.”

God has healed me many times and has spared my life for His service and purpose. This solitary life to know Jesus in a personal way has given me such a rewarding and wonderful life. Yes, Jesus is the sweetest name I know, and I would invite you to come with me to the garden while the dew is still on the roses. We are never alone as we listen for His voice reading the Bible, spending time in prayer and listening to the Gospel message via radio or TV. The symbol of the rose – The Rose of Sharon, signifies the beauty, excellence and preciousness of Jesus Christ. For just as a rose is captivated with its vibrant colors, delicate petals, and sweet fragrance, Jesus has captured my heart with His perfect love, grace and compassion. Philippians 1:21, Amplified Bible, says, “For to me, to live is Christ (He is my source of joy, my reason to live) and to die is gain (For I will be with Him in eternity).

I am survived by nieces, nephews, an uncle and numerous cousins, Those closest – a sister-in-law, Irma Tovar Burggraaf, of Alvin, Texas, one brother, D. Kevin Burggraaf, and his wife, Cynthia, of Johnston, Iowa, and a sister, Bonita L. Moore and her husband, Dennis, of New Sharon, Iowa. To my family, I would like to thank you for the numerous ways you have been by my side and helped me and for the many beautiful roses you have shared with me to enjoy.

I was preceded in death by my dad, Robert Melvin Burggraaf, 2014, my mother, Bonita LaVerne McCaulley Burggraaf, 2015; brother, Bob (Robert Lee), 2022 and his wife, Helen Lusk-Burggraaf, 2026, and brother, Terry (Terell Eugene) 2014, grandparents, Ralph and Hilda Sorenson McCaulley and Walter and Leola Patton Burggraaf.

Until we meet again, thank you all for the many ways each of you have poured into my life by your selfless giving—spiritually, emotionally and physically and for investing your time, your love and your resources on my behalf—
