Stanley Mark Taylor, previously of Corvallis, Oregon, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026 at his home in Coralville, Iowa surrounded by caring individuals, including his niece Molly Taylor Walter and her husband, Ben Walter.

He will be laid to rest in the Goldenrod Cemetery, Deep River, Iowa, next to the graves of his grandparents, Harry and Freeda Taylor. In honor of Stan, the family requests that donations be made to your local hospice or a charity of your choice. Funeral details will be announced in the near future. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Stan was born February 12, 1950, in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Arlo Francis Taylor and Fern Margaret (Gauley) Taylor of rural Deep River, Iowa. He graduated from Tri-County Community High School in Thornburg, Iowa. He graduated from Marshalltown Community College in 1970, The University of Northern Iowa in 1972 with a BA in History, and in 1990, he graduated from Oregon State University-Corvallis with a BS in Computer Science.

As a young boy, Stan was active in the Deep River United Methodist Church and in 4-H. He had a love of playing chess, photography, and was a kind and generous person.

Stan served in the Peace Corps from 1973 to 1975. After his service with the Peace Corps, he moved to Corvallis, Oregon where he made his home until 2025, when he returned to Iowa. While in Oregon, he was employed by Oregon State University-Corvallis, computer science and technology. He was a volunteer in the health care reform movement in Oregon and a food pantry non-profit.

Stan was preceded in death by his father and mother. He leaves behind his younger brother, Craig (Laurie Williams Taylor) of Coralville, Iowa and his niece Molly Taylor Walter (Ben Walter), and a great nephew and a great niece, Henry and Helena Walter also of Coralville. He is survived by many cousins and friends.
