Susan (Sue) Thomas, 75, of Beaverdale, formally of Montezuma, passed away Thursday May 18, 2023, at Edencrest Senior Living.  A celebration of life will be held Friday, September 8, 2023 at the Lake Ponderosa Association Building located at; 175 Woodland Road; Montezuma, Iowa 50171.

Susan Kay Thomas, the daughter of Harris and Velma (Sheldon) Hill was born on September 8th, 1947.  She graduated from East Union High School in southern Iowa in 1965.  On November 15th, 1969, she was united in marriage to Jim Thomas in Omaha, Nebraska.  Sue worked for Briggs Multi Plex in West Des Moines for 25 years prior to moving to Lake Ponderosa in Montezuma.  While living in Montezuma, Sue spent 7 years working for Brownell's in Montezuma and 3 years working for Copy Connection in Grinnell prior to retiring.  Sue loved spending time with her family and friends at the lake, especially the many hours spent enjoying pontoon rides around the lake and fishing with her grandsons.  She was an avid sports fan, awaiting nightly updates of her grandson's sporting events, and you could always find her cheering on all the Iowa teams during basketball and football seasons.

Sue's memory will be honored by her husband of 53 years Jim, their son Brent (Sarah) Thomas of Urbandale; grandson's Nash and Reid Thomas and great grandson Grayson, also of Urbandale; stepson Bill (Mary Kay Bordenaro McBroom) of Des Moines; sister Linda (Edmund) Seawar of West Des Moines; brother Roger (Pam) Hill of Rockton, Illinois and many nieces and nephews and their families spanning across 3 continents.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her in laws James and Ethel Thomas.
