Terry Stephen, 83, of Montezuma, passed away on the morning of Friday, January 10, 2025, at the Glen Oaks Specialty Care Unit in Urbandale. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma. A visitation will take place on Thursday, January 16, 2025, beginning at noon, with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the same location. Burial will follow at Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of the Midwest in Johnston. The Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is handling the arrangements.

Terry Gene Stephen was born on December 23, 1941, near Forest Home, Iowa, to Charlie and Glema McClure Stephen. He was a 1960 graduate of Montezuma High School and spent his life as a farmer. On September 4, 1976, he married Connie Piersel Ritchie at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, and together they raised five children: Roxanne, Rodney, Rhonda, Kelly, and Byron.

After retiring from farming, Terry enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including fishing, spending time with friends during coffee breaks, mushroom hunting, and following sports. He was an avid fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Green Bay Packers, and the Iowa State Cyclones. He also had a deep fondness for John Deere tractors and never passed up a chance to enjoy peanuts or cashews.

Terry's memory will be cherished by his wife, Connie, of Montezuma; his children, Byron (Margaux) Stephen of Madison, NJ, Roxanne (Mike) Hicks of Montezuma, Rod Ritchie of Montezuma, Rhonda Ritchie of Discovery Bay, CA, and Kelly (Brian) Van Wyk of Monroe; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his sisters, Colleen (Doc) Van Kampen and Beverly (Dan) Malloy, both of Montezuma; and sister-in-law Lois Stephen of New Sharon, along with many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Duane Stephen; a sister, Sharon Hicks; and a grandson, Zain Van Wyk.
