Wanda Tolles, 86, of Danville, Illinois and formerly of What Cheer, Iowa passed away on June 6, 2023 at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Danville.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 10, beginning at 2:00 pm at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.   Burial will be held in the Springfield Cemetery near Delta. Memorials may be directed to the family. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of What Cheer is in charge of the arrangements.

Wanda Charleene Tolles, daughter of Harold and Gladys James Benson, was born on July 30, 1936 in Montezuma, Iowa.  She was a 1954 graduate of Oskaloosa High School. Wanda was united in marriage to Vernie Bryon Tolles on November 25, 1956 in What Cheer, Iowa and to this union one son was born, Michael Bryon.  She later attended college at William Penn and received her degree in Business Administration. She substitute taught for several years. Wanda enjoyed her family and spent many hours quilting with the United Methodist women and for many years continued making quilts and quilt tops at home.  She crocheted afghans and baby caps.  She also loved to garden and her flowers.  Wanda had a lifelong passion for family genealogy.

Wanda is survived by her son, Michael of Danville, Illinois; and her sister, Darlene (Bill) Fisher of Winton, Minnesota.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernie in 1995; one brother, Carl Benson; and two sisters, Norma Behrens and Doris Yates.
