William (Bill) L. Ewing, 86 of Barnes City passed away Monday afternoon, January 8, 2024 at his house in Barnes City under hospice care. Graveside services will be held at a later date in the Union Mills Cemetery. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.

William Lloyd Ewing, son of Floyd William Ewing and LaVona Mary (Jones) Ewing, was born on May 01, 1937 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Bill attended Fort Dodge School. While living in Fort Dodge, Bill joined the National Guards and then the Marine Corps. While on leave from the Marine Corp, William met Donna Jean Klinger and they were united in marriage on August 31, 1957. Following their marriage, Bill returned back to Camp Pendleton, California where he was stationed. After Bill was honorably discharged, they moved back to Fort Dodge, Iowa. Bill and Donna had four children, Bart, Bret, Tammy and Kelly. Bill and his family moved to New Sharon around 1973 and a year later they bought a home and settled in Barnes City, Iowa. William was a great provider for his family. He worked for New Idea making farm Machinery while living in Fort Dodge, later worked for Weaver Construction until moving to this area where he retired from Donaldson after 25 years. A short time after Bill retired, he could not remain idle and took a job with Front Street Mfg. in Barnes City, Iowa and then fully retired after 16 years at Front Street Mfg.

William's legacy will be honored by his children, Bart (Julie) Ewing of New Sharon, IA and Tammy (Russ) Stockdale of Barnes City, IA; his five grandchildren BJ (Kristie) Ewing, Brian Ewing, Brady Ewing, Kory (LeAnan) Stockdale and Kayla (Nathan) Emerson; his nine great grandchildren, Caleb, Xander, Kahlani, Lauren, Landon, Addison, Hailey, Baylee and Carson; his  brother David Ewing of Deep River, IA; a sister, Nancy Steburg of Puyallup, WA;  along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

William was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; his parents, Floyd and LaVona; two sons in infancy, Bret and Kelly and two sisters, Barb Wolff and Shirley Donahue.
